About the Department

The department of urdu was established in 2013.

To be a distinguished center of academic and cultural excellence
To preserve, enrich, and promote the Urdu language and its literary traditions,
To highlight and celebrate the cultural and linguistic heritage of the Awadh region,
To provide a vibrant and inclusive learning environment that fosters intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and linguistic proficiency in Urdu.
To nurture students as productive, creative, and responsible citizens,
To promote ethical values, moral grounding and foster a sense of cultural identity through the study of Urdu.
To provide high-quality, research-oriented education in Urdu language and literature.
To focus on the syncretic culture or Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb of Awadh, emphasizing Indigenous Indian culture, Value-based education
To empower students to contribute meaningfully to the language, literature, and culture of Urdu.
Integration of AI tools, language apps, and open educational resources (OER) for Urdu.
Introduce modules on Urdu in Journalism, Film, Theatre, and Digital Storytelling.
Promote inclusive and gender-sensitive Urdu narratives to connect students to social realities.
