Department of English & Modern European and Asian Languages
About the Department
Language serves as a powerful medium for communication, creation, and the preservation of culture and knowledge. English, in particular, opens doors to global literary treasures and fosters intellectual exchange across borders. Literary studies, as a discipline, attract scholars and thinkers, eager to explore its multifaceted dimensions, cultivating critical thinking through textual analysis, interpretation, and argumentation. These skills prove invaluable across academic, professional, and personal spheres, while literature itself nurtures imagination and creative expression. Established in the year 2013, the Department of English and Modern European and Asian Languages, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University, offers a diverse range of programs and courses at various levels in order to allow students to explore different facets of literary and linguistic studies in English, as well as French and other foreign languages. In a short time, the Department has been able to establish a name for itself by the help of its remarkable academic environment and research output. To incite and promote the creative acumen of students, the Department also runs an online literary magazine by the name of Literary Lane (https://kmclu.ac.in/literary-lane/). Beyond the classroom, students benefit from a vibrant academic environment enriched by seminars, conferences, theatre and language workshops, and cultural events at both national and international levels. Well-equipped Language Labs enhance interactive learning, ensuring students receive a holistic education. Committed to academic excellence beyond the curriculum, the Department offers papers involving research work at both UG and PG levels, in order to prepare students who are interested in pursuing a Ph.D.
