Year of establishment

The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 2022 with the vision of providing quality education and research opportunities in the field of Chemistry sciences. Since its inception, the department has been committed to building a strong academic foundation, developing well-equipped laboratories, and nurturing students with the knowledge and skills required to excel in higher studies, research, and diverse career pathways.

Vision and Mission

• Changing the hopes and dreams of diverse individuals into reality by providing value-added quality education, exposing students to advances in Chemical Sciences, offering guidance in acquiring theoretical and practical skills and creating an excellent learning environment that would groom total personality.

Facilities

The Department of Chemistry is well-equipped with essential academic and infrastructural facilities to support effective teaching and learning. It has spacious classrooms for interactive lectures, developing laboratory facilities for conducting practical experiments and a well-maintained staff room for faculty members. Along with providing a strong academic foundation, the department emphasizes student support, as teachers actively offer guidance for higher studies, preparation for competitive examinations, and career counseling to help students shape a successful future.

Labs/Equipment

The Department of Chemistry currently has one laboratory, which is in the developing phase. Continuous efforts are being made to equip the laboratory with modern instruments and essential facilities required for practical training and research. Once fully developed, the laboratory will provide students with hands-on experience in core chemical methodologies and support research-oriented learning.

Student activities and clubs

B.Sc. Chemistry students actively participate in a wide range of academic and co-curricular activities aimed at their overall development. A structured Mentor–Mentee program is followed to provide individual guidance and support to students, while remedial classes are conducted to strengthen the understanding of difficult topics and bridge learning gaps. Regular counseling sessions are organized to address academic as well as personal concerns, ensuring the holistic well-being of students. To promote research aptitude, students are encouraged to carry out dissertation work in reputed institutions, gaining hands-on exposure to advanced laboratory techniques and real-world applications of Chemistry. Alongside academics, students also take part in various competitions, including poster making, quiz, and essay writing, which foster creativity and critical thinking. In addition, they enthusiastically participate in cultural activities, celebrating diversity and nurturing teamwork, confidence, and leadership skills.

Placement highlights

The year 2025 marks the passing out of the very first batch of B.Sc. Chemistry students from the department. As this is the inaugural batch, the process of placement and student up-gradation is at a nascent stage, and we are still awaiting the initial outcomes in this section. The department is making consistent efforts to build strong linkages with reputed academic institutions, research laboratories, and industries to ensure ample opportunities for higher studies, internships, and employment for its students. Alongside, continuous mentoring, career counseling, and guidance for competitive examinations are being provided to equip students for future success.

There has been a consistent increase in the number of students opting for the program, reflecting the growing interest and confidence in the quality of education imparted by the department.
