The Department of Home Science is well-equipped with essential academic and infrastructural facilities to support effective teaching and learning. It has spacious classroomslike Smart classroom for interactive lectures, developing laboratory facilities for conducting practical and a well-maintained staff room for faculty members. Along with providing a strong academic foundation, the department emphasizes student support, as teachers actively offer guidance for higher studies, preparation for competitive examinations, and career counselling to help students shape a successful future. Labs/Equipments

The Department of Home Science is currently equipped with three fully developed laboratories, with ongoing efforts to enhance them further. These labs are continuously being upgraded with modern instruments and essential facilities to support practical training and research. Once fully developed, they will provide students with valuable hands-on experience in core Home Science techniques while promoting research-based learning. The primary laboratories include the Food and Nutrition Lab, which offers practical exposure to food science, nutrition, and culinary skills through experiments on food processing, nutrition assessment, and dietary planning; the Clothing and Textile Lab, where students gain practical knowledge in textile science, clothing construction, and fabric analysis, supporting experiments on textile properties, garment design, and textile technology; and the Psychological & physiological Assessment Scale Lab, which focuses on developing and applying psychological assessment tools, enabling students to understand human behaviour and mental processes through standardized psychological measurements and research-based approaches.

Student Activities and Clubs

The B.A. and M.A. Home Science students, along with Ph.D. scholars, actively engage in a diverse range of academic and co-curricular activities that contribute to their overall growth and development. A structured Mentor–Mentee program is implemented to offer personalized guidance and support to students, ensuring their academic success and personal development. To address learning gaps, remedial classes are conducted, helping students strengthen their understanding of challenging topics. Additionally, regular counseling sessions are organized to support students' academic and personal well-being, ensuring their holistic development. In line with fostering research aptitude, students are encouraged to undertake dissertation work in renowned institutions, providing them with hands-on experience in advanced laboratory techniques and real-world applications of Home science. Beyond academics, students participate in various competitions, such as poster-making, quizzes, and essay writing, which stimulate creativity and critical thinking. They also actively partake in cultural activities, celebrating diversity and honing essential life skills like teamwork, confidence, and leadership. All these initiatives are conducted under the JAZBA Club, a student-centered initiative led by the Home Science faculty and championed by Dr. Tatheer Fatma, designed to support students' holistic development.

Achievements

In the every session, the Home Science Department at Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University (KMCLU) continued to achieve remarkable success. The department maintained an impressive 99% pass rate for UG programs and 98% pass rate for PG programs, demonstrating its commitment to academic excellence. Students excelled in various fields, winning university gold medals, clearing prestigious exams like UGC-NET, B.Ed. and BTC, and securing careers as teachers, dietitians, and other professionals. The department’s focus on entrepreneurship empowered students to become job creators, with many launching their own ventures in fashion, textiles, and other areas. The department also led impactful research projects, including initiatives that provided nutritional awareness to caregivers in destitute homes. Modern teaching methods were employed, utilizing ICT tools to create an interactive and dynamic learning environment, while emphasizing critical thinking, problem-solving, and holistic development. Faculty members participated in skill enhancement programs like TechSaksham and received seed funding for their research projects. The department also trained community women and youth in entrepreneurship, fostering social impact and community development in the region.
