About the Department
The Sociology Department at Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University, Lucknow was established in 2019 with a vision to provide a comprehensive education in sociology, fostering critical thinking, empirical research skills, and a deep understanding of the social world among its students. As one of the newest additions to the university's academic offerings, the Sociology Department is committed to creating a vibrant intellectual community that engages with contemporary social issues and contributes to the advancement of sociological knowledge.
The Sociology Department at our university offers a comprehensive program at U.G. Level (B.A., N.E.P. ) that explores diverse aspects of human society and social behavior. With courses covering topics such as Basic concepts of sociology like; gender, race, and globalization, environment, demography, social movements, family, kinship, marriage, caste, social stratification etc. students gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills to analyze complex social issues. Our curriculum includes popular courses like Introduction to Basic Concepts of Sociology, Society in India: Structure, Organization & Change, Writing skill development on topics of Contemporary Sociological Importance, Social Change & Social Movements, Social Problems & Issues of Development in India, Projects on Sustainable Society, Classical Sociological Thought, Research Methodology in Social Sciences, Pioneers of Indian Sociology, Gender and Society. Through experiential learning opportunities and internships, students apply their sociological understanding to real-world contexts. Committed to fostering critical thinking and civic engagement, our department prepares students for careers in social services, research, policy analysis, and academia, empowering them to address the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
