About the Faculty

The Faculty of Legal Studies, established in 2021, is dedicated to fostering excellence in legal education, research, and professional training. In 2021, it started with the introduction of 2 years LL.M. course. Since its inception, the faculty has worked to create a dynamic academic environment that blends rigorous academics with practical exposure. Further B.A.LL.B., LL.B. was introduced in 2023 and is approved by Bar Council of India. Faculty of Legal Studies offers comprehensive legal education, fostering critical thinking and ethical reasoning.

A major milestone was achieved in 2025 with the inauguration of the state-of-the-art Moot Court Hall, providing students with hands-on experience in advocacy and courtroom practice. The faculty is committed to nurturing not only well-informed legal professionals but also socially responsible citizens who can contribute meaningfully to the justice system. With a vision to expand its academic horizons, the Faculty of Legal Studies plans to introduce innovative programs, strengthen industry and institutional collaborations, and encourage cutting-edge research in emerging areas of law. As we move forward, the faculty aspires to establish itself as a center of excellence, preparing its students to meet global challenges while upholding the values of justice, equity, and integrity.

Moot Court

The Faculty of Legal Studies, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University (KMCLU), inaugurated the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Moot Court Hall on 27 August 2025. The inauguration was accompanied by a seminar on “From Law Graduate to Advocate: The Etiquettes,” focusing on the importance of professional etiquette, morality, ethics, and advocacy skills in the legal profession. The programme was graced by His Excellency Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla, Governor of Himachal Pradesh, as the Chief Guest, along with Prof. Amar Pal Singh, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, and Dr. Amrendra Nath Tripathi, Senior Advocate, as Guests of Honour. Moot Court is an integral part of legal education that provides students with an opportunity to experience the practical aspects of the legal profession in an academic environment. It enables students to move beyond theoretical understanding of law and develop essential advocacy skills through simulated courtroom proceedings. By participating in moot court activities, students learn how to conduct legal research, analyse complex legal issues, prepare written submissions, construct persuasive arguments, and present their case before a panel of judges. Moot Court also plays an important role in building students’ confidence, communication skills, logical reasoning, and professional courtroom etiquette. It encourages students to think critically, respond to questions, work effectively in teams, and develop the ability to present legal arguments in a clear and structured manner. Regular participation helps students become more comfortable with the processes and discipline associated with legal practice. For law students, the Moot Court Hall serves as a space where classroom learning can be transformed into practical experience. It provides an environment in which students can learn through participation, observation, discussion, and constructive feedback. Moot court activities also encourage students to explore different areas of law and develop a deeper understanding of legal principles and judicial reasoning.Recognising the importance of experiential learning, the Faculty of Legal Studies, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University, has established the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Moot Court Hall as a dedicated platform for simulations, moot court competitions, debates, and skill-building activities.
