The University was named after Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti of Ajmer who is known all over the world for his benevolence and magnanimity.
Khwaja Moinuddin was born in 1141 CE in Chishti in Herat, Afghanistan. Also known as 'Gharib Nawaaz' and 'Benefactor of the poor', he is the most famous saint of the Chishti order of Sufism in the Indian Subcontinent.

The University is fast expanding both in terms of facilities and students enrolled. The University has separate boys' and girls' hostels that provide convenient accommodation to the students with in house mess facility.
The university campus hosts a fully functional ICICI Bank branch, conveniently located within the premises to cater to the banking needs of students, faculty, and staff. The branch provides a range of financial services, including account opening, fund transfers, and loan assistance.
Good health is the key to a successful life. Thus, keeping in view the overall wellbeing of its staff and students, the University has opened a Gymnasium and Club that provides a wide array of health and recreational facilities under one roof.
The Medical Centre of the University caters to the medical needs of students and staff. The Centre offers 24- hour OPD facility and is equipped to deal with any emergency situation.
The University provides free e-content to students, researchers and faculty members through its subscribed e-resources. Also, the University has its own library portal developed by Knimbus.
Besides academic engagements, extra-curricular activities are regular phenomenon at this university wherein guests from across the country and abroad keep taking part.
